Yeezy Jumped Over Jumpman... Now What?
Some saw this as inevitable.
Others saw it as a surprise.
Nevertheless, the end is near and many are raising doubts about the future of Yeezys, or at least the hype attached to it.
The end of kids lining up, sites crashing, fans taking Ls and ridiculous resell prices.
The Yeezy Promise
It was almost three years ago when this promise was made. A promise that was bold and a promise that was rather notorious.
After announcing his plans to run for president of the United States in 2020, Kanye later revealed his promise that "everyone will get Yeezys".
Evidence
Earlier this year, Yeezy Mafia reported that there will be millions pairs of the Yeezy 350 V2 “Cream White” available. Some were excited, others weren't. Regardless of the reactions, this was our very first piece of evidence that Kanye was living up to his promise.
Following this, Kanye took to Twitter and offered a sneak peek with a behind-the-scene look into his Yeezy Season collection. The photos shown revealed a multitude of the Yeezy 350 V2s in new shades that have yet to be leaked.
The Man That Started The Crisis
Whilst many responded well to evidence that Kanye is living up to his promise, it was this man who erupted thoughts of a potential sneaker apocalypse.
In July, a man was spotted returning a pair of the recent Yeezy Butters to his local Manhattan Footlocker. And this was enough to upset many sneaker enthusiasts, resellers, collectors and hypebeasts alike.
People took over the internet and voiced their rage. Resellers were worried about the decline in resale price, while hypebeasts began wondering what shoe they could turn to next.
Nevertheless, one simple image was enough to send the sneaker community into a craze. And many are now questioning whether Yeezys will ever be the same...
What This Means For Sneaker Culture
If you are feeling sceptical about the future of Yeezys, we do not blame you at all.
What used to be a sneaker adorned by many and owned by a few, is now just a sneaker you see worn by almost every second sneaker enthusiast on the street.
What used to turn necks, now just attract two second glances.
In simpler words, the hype for Yeezys are dying out.
And we stress that it is just the HYPE that is on the decline - not the brand itself.

As far as we're concerned, Yeezys are doing an excellent job in terms of branding. Sure their exclusivity has been heavily diluted, but it doesn't matter. Regardless of whether the hype is high or not, Yeezys will forever be attached to the man himself, Kanye and all that he has embodied over his existence. By mass producing Yeezys and increasing accessibility, more and more people are exposed to Kanye and will continue to be heavily attracted by his personality and brand.
If anything, we genuinely believe that Kanye's decision to create more colourways in the Yeezy 350 V2 is a great move for the sneaker community. Rather than conform strictly to just the limited or hyped colourways, these new colourways will encourage sneaker enthusiasts of all kind to be unique in their selection and wear what THEY like.
Also, to be quite honest, these colourways aren't bad at all. In our previous blog, we discussed how the pastel vibrant colours are the new thing in sneaker culture. With the Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97s and the Air Max Parra 1s making statements with their vibrant colours, it would be no surprise if the Yeezy 350 V2 colours shown in the leaked image above gained similar popularity.
Let us know in the comments down below how you guys feel about the Yeezy hype declining? Should Adidas be worried? What's your favourite colourway in Kanye's leaked image above?
